What metal are BBS wheels made of?
Starting from a billet of 6,000 series aluminum, or a special magnesium alloy, every BBS forged wheel uses our special multi-stage Die-Forging process which can require up to 18 million pounds of pressure to produce.
Are BBS RS forged?
RS centers (aka faces) have, and always will be, constructed from die-forged aluminum. Most original RS faces came in either silver or gold, but there have been some limited runs from BBS in which other colour schemes were offered.

When Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand set up a production facility for plastic body parts in Schiltach, BBS was born. Baumgartner, a racing enthusiast and innovator, is driven by the idea of an aluminum wheel. As early as 1972, the company succeeded in designing a three-piece wheel.
Where are BBS manufactured?
Located in Takaoka-City, BBS Japan creates the forgings for all of our forged road and racing wheels. Hydraulic forging presses up to 9000 tons are used to produce the forgings that will become a BBS wheel. Back in 1983, this facility produced the die-forged “RS” design wheel that is still an icon today.
