Is JobTrainer still available?
The NSW JobTrainer program is supporting vocational training and skills development across NSW. Over 200,000 vocational training places relevant to jobs of the future are being funded in NSW as part of the program, with enrolment extended for 12 months from 31 December 2021 to 31 December 2022.
How do you qualify for a JobTrainer?
To qualify for subsidised training under NSW JobTrainer you must be: a resident of NSW, aged 17-24 years of age or currently unemployed (this includes people who are new to the workforce or need to re-skill due to job loss) or receiving an income support payment (eg, JobSeeker, Austudy, Youth Allowance).
How long will JobTrainer last?
As part of the 2021-22 Budget, the Australian Government announced it would commit an additional $500 million, to be matched by state and territory governments, to extend the program until 31 December 2022.
What is the JobTrainer fund?
The JobTrainer Fund supports job seekers, school leavers and young people to access the skills and training they need to find work, re-enter the labour market or explore new work opportunities available as Queensland’s economy recovers.
Can I study on job seeker?
As part of their mutual obligation requirements, job seekers in online employment services may elect at any time to participate in study and training in high labour demand areas (see below).
What is the SEE program?
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program helps eligible job seekers learn the skills they need to get the job they want by improving their language, reading, writing and maths skills.
What does JobTrainer mean?
The JobTrainer initiative (JobTrainer) is a joint Commonwealth and State initiative which provides additional funding to increase access to free or low fee training places for young people and job seekers. JobTrainer complements the existing subsidised training available under Skills First as well as Free TAFE.
Do you get paid on JobTrainer?
It covers half the wage eligible employers pay apprentices and trainees, up to A$7,000 a quarter (A$28,000 a year). This compares to A$9,750 the Jobkeeper pays as a flat rate of A$750 a week. But unlike JobKeeper, employers are not required to demonstrate reduced turnover to qualify.
Can you use JobTrainer more than once?
Students cannot be enrolled in more than one short course or qualification at a time. Prospective students who have previously completed a qualification are still eligible to enrol in a subsidised training place as JobTrainer offers people a chance to retrain and gain new skills and qualifications.
What is JobTrainer TAFE?
The JobTrainer program provides young people and job seekers with low cost and fee-free* training courses to help you develop new skills, improve job prospects and kickstart your career. JobTrainer’s fee-free training programs are available in various industries and include full qualifications and skillsets.
Can you study full-time and be on jobseeker?
A job seeker with full-time mutual obligation requirements who is undertaking either full-time or part-time education or training as a compulsory item in their Job Plan can only be required to accept an offer of suitable employment if the hours of employment would fit around the timing of their study.
Will Centrelink pay for courses?

What is the reskilling toolkit and how does it work?
The Reskilling Toolkit contains information, guidance, tips, and resources on how to reskill and/or upskill employees impacted by major workforce changes, such as automation. The toolkit aligns to the Human Capital Framework (HCF), which guides agencies through the four different systems of the human capital management life cycle (see Appendix A).

Are you eligible for free training through NSW jobtrainer/skilling for recovery?
If an employer is interested in recruiting new people for their workforce or wanting to upskill their existing workforce they may be eligible for fee-free training through NSW JobTrainer/Skilling for Recovery. People undertaking training must meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria and fit into at least one of the categories below:
