I just talked to a Bronze sales rep, he tells me that Ampco 18 is (very) similar to 954. But Ampco is proprietary and thus twice the cost. Any experience comparing the machinability of these two materials? I still think that these parts should be wire EDM cut.. Might not be an 18″ Z height machine in the area. Thanks again…
What is the difference between cda954 and AMPCO 18?
Ampco 18 is not the same as CDA954. CDA 954 allows up to 1.5 % Nickel in the alloy where in fact Ampco 18 limits the Nickel and other elements to a maximum of 0.5 % making Ampco 18 a much better alloy with much higher mechanical properties.
