What is a GESE exam?
GESE exams are one-to-one, face-to-face assessments of English language speaking and listening skills with a Trinity examiner, who encourages the candidate to show what they can do through prompts and authentic interactive dialogue. The exam length is 5-25 minutes depending on the grade.

How are Trinity exams graded?
Trinity’s graded music exams are assessed by external examiners trained and moderated by Trinity. Examiners provide marks and comments using the assessment criteria on pages 18–23. The exams are marked out of 100. Candidates’ results correspond to different attainment levels as shown in the next column.
How long is B1 valid for?

You can use a B1 level qualification taken more than 2 years ago if you are applying for citizenship and the qualification was accepted when you settled in the UK. You can use a B1 level qualification taken more than two years ago if both of the following are true: it’s on the current list of recognised tests.
Are Trinity exams hard?

Are Trinity exams as good as ABRSM?
ABRSM and Trinity grades are accredited at the same level. The UK qualifications regulator, OFQUAL monitors the standards of all exam bodies in the country. Each exam is given an RQF (regulated qualifications framework) level, so that exams may be compared across different boards, and even across different disciplines.

B1 Preliminary – Level B1 If you achieve a scale score of 140–159 (Pass, Pass with Merit) in your exam, you will receive the Preliminary English Test certificate at Level B1.
