The whole purpose of gaiters is to protect your feet and lower leg from moisture or debris while on a hike or walk. Most often, gaiters will be used as a shield against moisture – this can be rain or if you’re hiking through snow. They stop your feet, ankles, and lower leg from being vulnerable.

How do you attach gaiters to boots?
Attach the lace hooks: If your gaiters have lace hooks, try to attach them as far down on your boots as possible. On larger boots, you might not be able to reach all the way to the farthest laces. Cinch the top hem as needed: This helps your gaiters to stay up on your leg, and prevent rain/snow from entering the top of your boot.
