What is a tear away bead?
Tear Away Bead is just one family of corner bead products created by Trim-Tex that was designed to make finishing drywall easier and cleaner with it’s patented tear off strip. The Tear Away Bead is used to finish the rough edge of the drywall and features a strip that acts as a guide for the taping knife.

Tear-away vinyl corner bead is a versatile material that is used to make crisp edges where drywall abruptly meets a different finished material. It is very simply to apply using spray adhesive and can be finished with a six inch knife using only 2 coats of mud.

Can you paint vinyl corner bead?
I have very little experience painting vinyl corner bead. Every new house I’ve ever painted that had bullnose corner bead always used the metal bead. That said, clean vinyl paints well although it might take an extra coat to get good coverage because it’s not as porous as the drywall of joint compound.
