How do you stick wrap to exhaust?
Most exhaust wraps loosen up a little with some water. You can use a squirt bottle or simply soak the wrap in water and squeeze out the excess. This helps the wrap stick to itself a little better. When it dries, the wrap will hold its shape a bit better as well.
Is wrapping motorcycle exhaust bad?

Any mild steel exhaust pipe will rust over time with or without exhaust wrap. Our wraps won’t draw moisture from the air, but if you ride or drive in wet conditions without letting the wrap dry off, it can lead to accelerated oxidation. If your wrap gets wet, keep the engine running long enough to dry the wrap.
Do you have to soak exhaust wrap?
Soaking wrap in bucket of water is not necessary. You may spray the header/exhaust wrap with water (Figure 1). Soaking and spraying exhaust wrap can make installation easier and also reduce the amount of fibers. We recommend just spraying as you go along, not soaking.
Why is my exhaust wrap smoking?
Not to worry—this is actually normal for newly installed high temp exhaust tape that has not yet been exposed to heat! Resultantly, when the high temp exhaust tape becomes exposed to heat, the binders tend to burn off and cause exhaust wrap smoking.

Does exhaust Wrap reduce rasp?
Wrapping the exhaust did nothing for the rasp, but it will make it hotter and quicker. After some driving in 48 degrees and pouring rain, the rasp went away.
Is exhaust wrap supposed to smoke?
Even the best exhaust heat wrap will smoke, so prepare to run your bike for at least an hour in a well-ventilated area after wrapping your exhaust pipes. Riding your bike is perfect, or you can just run it outside. We don’t recommend hotboxing in your garage after installing a new motorcycle exhaust heat wrap.
Do you need silicone spray for exhaust wrap?
You don’t have to spray the wrap. Spray the pipes. The silicone will protect the pipes from rust, and the wraps will stay as is.
