What temperature can Viton withstand?
Viton seals provide an indefinite seal for temperatures up to 400°F, and for temperatures up to 600°F they offer an excellent seal for more than 48 hours.
Is fluorocarbon the same as Viton?
Viton® is the brand name for fluorocarbon rubber polymers of the Chemours Company. This type of polymer is used extensively by ERIKS, however we do not claim or promote the use of any specific brands of polymers in our compounds.
How do you Vulcanize in Viton?
11. Vulcanize the splice at 250°F to 275°F for 1 ½ to 2 hours. If outside temperature is near freezing, an additional 15 to 20 minutes may be required. It is important to continually monitor the iron’s temperature as Viton will not cure correctly if temperature is too high, or too low.
Are Viton O-rings heat resistant?
Viton® has outstanding resistance to heat. In fact, one Viton® o-ring can withstand temperature ranges from -13°F to 446°F. Since some rubber compounds are known to fail in extreme high-temperature environments, Viton® is a great candidate for applications working under these circumstances.
Is Viton good for diesel?
From its introduction in 1957, Viton has a long-proven resistance to a wide range of solvents and fuels. Since the mid 1990s, manufacturers have specified Viton for seals and gaskets for use in diesel fuel injectors because of its resistance to biodiesel fuels.
Is Buna good for diesel?
it’s one of the most highly used seal materials in the oil and gas industry.as long as your o-ring is the correct size,buna-n should hold up just fine to regular diesel fuel.
Can Viton be vulcanized?
We can produce vulcanized o-rings in round, square, X profiles, and custom profiles. Standard materials we vulcanize include Buna (Nitrile), Viton® (FKM), Aflas, Neoprene, EPDM, Neo/EPDM Blend, Silicone, and Fluorosilicone. The cord can be Butt Cut or Bevel Cut.
Can you glue Viton o-rings?
Also known as O-ring vulcanizing kits, these use a combination of heat and adhesive to create a bond that’s stronger and has greater elasticity than a bond made of adhesive alone. They can also hot bond Viton® fluoroelastomer cord stock using the three sets of two-part adhesive (sold separately).
Is Viton better than nitrile?
General Suitability: Viton® is best suited for diverse sealing jobs that require high temperature and chemical resistance. This makes Viton® far superior to Nitrile in these regards. They are also designed to resist most oils and lubricants, more importantly petroleum-based lubricants.
