His connections had the Futurity Stakes winner Bakharoff in line for the race through the winter, but, when that horse met with defeat in the Lingfield Derby Trial on his reappearance, the decision was made to send Dancing Brave to the Derby, for which he was ultimately sent off the 2/1 favourite.
